Luz Learning

Hola a todos!

I am starting a Non-Profit Organization called Luz Learning! It is a foundation dedicated to making a difference by awakening people to their natural ability to learn, through curiosity, communication, awareness and celebration.

I am a singer/songwriter and an 8th grade Spanish teacher… and I am committed to bringing my two passions together in a way that no one has seen before! Through Luz Learning, I will bring the worlds of education and self-expression together.

In June 2008, Luz Learning will release an interactive DVD series and album, including basic to advanced Spanish lessons using music videos and rap songs, written and performed by me, Mama Luz, and my students. Each music album will be a double disc album: one is specifically directed towards learning the language; and the other is a collection of the final songs to enjoy. There will be a package deal, especially for teachers and school districts, including online access to new lesson plans, interactive games and a teacher networking community.

As Luz Learning develops, we will take on other adventures. Some of these will include programs for elementary school children, with coloring books and other fun additions; programs involving other performing arts, like dance; and an interactive e-magazine. As a part of the DVD series, we will also be traveling to Peru to conduct research and learn with students about Peruvian culture and food.

You are invited to Luz Learning’s first event on Saturday, December 6th, 2009 (6pm-11pm) at Sun in my Belly, Decatur, GA. Mama Luz will be playing songs from her Luz Learning series as well as her upcoming album, with a star in her pocket. The event will be catered by Source Foods, and there will even be dance lessons!

The website www.LuzLearning.com will soon be available for previewing. Please join the mailing list when it does! That way, you will receive updates as the organization grows and will be able to participate in it’s journey. :)
