since i dont play any instrument myself nor have a band of friend who do, i searched for some music editing/karoake software and found music morpher.

one of the features it has is the voice extraction – so that you can just have the music and sing along for recording. And its free.
what do others use if they want to record their voice without a band?

I personally use audacity but I am not sure if it will have all the features you need
